Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Cigarettes @ Sunset Kick Off The Bones Tour in Vermont

Rainbow Kitten Surprise opened The Bones Tour in Essex, Vermont, on September 12, playing a sold-out outdoor show on the first real night of fall. The crowd showed up in coats and hoodies, and the band kept the set unpredictable: “Cocaine Jesus” came midway through instead of closing the night, a mid-set acoustic stretch with “Bare Bones,” “Black and White,” and “First Class” gathered around a vintage ribbon mic, and the main set ended with “Run” ahead of encores of “Tropics” and “It’s Called: Freefall.” The strobe-heavy lighting rig tied the whole night together.

Boone, North Carolina’s Cigarettes @ Sunset opened with their self-described “Appalachian Possum Rock,” including a few unreleased songs, and singer Garrett Dellinger spent much of the set out in the crowd, singing and moshing with fans.
